Calgary's biggest mall is in the middle of a serious refresh. CF Chinook Centre on Macleod Trail has announced a batch of new openings rolling out between late 2026 and fall 2027, mixing returning brands with firsts for the shopping centre.
The first arrival is Old Navy, which is coming back to the mall in November 2026 after an earlier stint, this time in a newly renovated space. SportChek follows in Spring 2027, consolidating its current men's and women's shops into one 66,000-square-foot store on the upper level of the old Nordstrom space — with both an interior mall entrance and a separate exterior door. The same season brings another first: Winners will open on the lower level, becoming the mall's debut location for the discount retailer.
Food options are getting a boost too. Chipotle Mexican Grill is confirmed for the mall, arriving not long after Shake Shack opened its first Calgary location there. Wingstop will add a second Calgary outpost — its first opened in Deerfoot Meadows earlier this year, serving classic and boneless wings, sandwiches, tenders and seasoned fries. Dates for both restaurants haven't been announced yet.
Fashion fans get a double act: Hollister is returning in fall 2027, located directly above Abercrombie & Fitch, which itself recently made a comeback in Calgary. And for a snack break between stops, Saint Germain Bakery will bring its Asian-style lineup of fresh breads, pastries and cakes — though its opening date is still to come.
So why should a visitor care? If you're heading to Calgary in 2027 or beyond, Chinook is positioned as a one-stop day out: big-name retail, fast-casual chains you may not have at home, and easy access off Macleod Trail. Until the new tenants arrive, the mall's existing lineup plus the newly opened Shake Shack still make it worth an afternoon, especially in winter when indoor options win. For locals, it's a sign the city's retail scene keeps expanding — for travellers, it's a reason to pencil in a shopping day alongside trips to the Bow River, Prince's Island Park or a day trip toward the Rockies.
