Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards have placed .Here Baa Atoll sixth among Indian Ocean resorts, and the Maldives property is having quite the year otherwise too. The same publication put it on the Hot List 2026 earlier, and the resort has picked up design accolades alongside creative partners Kulör Group, Muza Lab and Topo Design Studio.
What makes .Here different from the usual overwater-villa formula? It sits inside the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll and spreads just nine residences across two natural islands, tellingly named Somewhere and Nowhere. Somewhere holds seven three- and four-bedroom residences that stretch from beach into lagoon, built for families and groups, each with multiple pools, indoor-outdoor living, private dining and what the resort calls Roohu service. There's no lobby and no check-in desk — a speedboat drops you straight at your residence. Nowhere, meanwhile, is bookable by one group at a time: a five-bedroom Presidential Residence plus a three-bedroom Lagoon Residence, eight bedrooms and 3,329 square metres of private space in total.
Resident Manager Elina Adiyan framed the award around the resort's core pitch — space, privacy and doing the Maldives entirely on your own terms. It's a formula clearly landing with well-travelled voters.
.The Here isn't the only Maldivian property collecting hardware right now. Reethi Faru Resort's kitchen team took three medals at the Hotel Asia and FHAM culinary challenges, including gold for chef Rohit Kabdal in the Decorated Cake category. RAAYA by Atmosphere in Raa Atoll was named Best Family Resort in the Maldives at the Travel Time Awards in Moscow — its second consecutive win from that publication — building on an opening-year award since launching in July 2024. The 167-villa resort leans on a quirky shipwrecked-artist storyline and its all-inclusive-style RAAYA Plan.
Kuda Villingili also earned a Highly Commended nod for Best Long-Haul Family Stay at the UK's Family Traveller Awards 2026, chosen by expert journalists then voted on by the public. It's a practical choice for families: just 30 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, 75 pool villas with connecting doors and separate entrances for multigenerational groups, a kids' club on its own shallow-lagoon beach, beginner surfing at the Baby Chickens break, and kids under 12 eating free across eight restaurants.
Why should a traveller care? Awards season is a useful shortcut when the Maldives has well over a hundred resorts and choosing feels impossible. If you want seclusion and are travelling with a crowd, .Here's take-over-an-island model is rare even in this part of the world. Families on a more conventional budget have strong recent options in Kuda Villingili and RAAYA, both recognised specifically for how they handle kids and grandparents without anyone feeling like an afterthought.
