A handful of Maldives resorts are lining up reasons to be in the Indian Ocean between October and December, and the line-up is broader than the usual festive buffet. Here's what's worth knowing if you're plotting a late-year escape.
Grand Park Kodhipparu, a 120-villa resort just 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, has unveiled 'Celebrate More, Feel More', a seasonal programme running October through December 2026. It's structured month by month: October brings 'Remember the Quiet', a signature stay built around sound and stillness; November is about shared dining, with a Black Friday edition of the Kodhipparu Reef Connection experience and a Thanksgiving gathering aimed at American expats in the region; and December closes with 'A Celebration of Light & Lagoon', covering Christmas dining and New Year festivities. One to note for food-focused travellers: the resort's overwater signature restaurant FireDoor has a glass floor looking straight down at the marine life below.
If fine wine is more your thing, Finolhu in Baa Atoll hosts Château Palmer on 25 October 2026 for an exclusive wine dinner, joined by Monsieur Charles Sichel of the family that has been behind the Margaux estate since 1938. Each course from Finolhu's kitchen will be paired with wines from the estate, which blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a touch of Petit Verdot and matures its Grand Vin for over 20 months. It's part of a broader culinary push at the resort, which was named one of the Best Culinary Resorts at the TTM Awards 2026 and recently welcomed Central Otago's Sato Wines for dinners including one at its Crab Shack.
Halloween, meanwhile, has gone big at Sun Siyam. All five resorts in the collection get a spooky makeover each October, and they range widely in tone: Siyam World stages 'Cult Classics', an interactive horror walkthrough with live performers and cinematic sets; Sun Siyam Olhuveli goes full Beetlejuice; Sun Siyam Iru Fushi leans into Maldivian traditions under the stars; Iru Veli keeps it relaxed beachfront; and Vilu Reef runs trick-or-treating for kids beneath the palm trees.
There's also a longer-term story worth a mention. Bandos Maldives has honoured a British couple, Kate and Andy, who've returned at least twice a year since 2006, married underwater there in 2014 and logged hundreds of dives on the house reef, with a dedicated section of its coral restoration project now named the K & A Coral Garden in their honour. Coral fragments are grown on suspended nylon ropes and will eventually become a living habitat on the reef.
Why it matters: late October to December is arguably the sweet spot for a Maldives trip — the wet season eases off, prices haven't yet hit the peak-Christmas spike, and resorts pull out their strongest programming. Whether you want a horror production, a Bordeaux dinner or a silent reset by the lagoon, you no longer have to choose between paradise and personality. Details and reservations for each event are available via the resorts' official websites.
