Toronto's week in a nutshell: retail news, big concerts, a Broadway transfer and one very photogenic sunset. Here's what locals (and anyone planning a trip to the city) should know.

Sephora is finally landing in Liberty Village. Signage has gone up at 171 East Liberty St., in the space that used to house the 8 Temple presentation gallery, and the beauty giant is already hiring. A job posting for a seasonal associate says the role exists "to support peak holiday operations", which hints the store could open its doors before the end of the year. No official opening date yet, but for a neighbourhood that's long lacked its own beauty destination, this is big news.

Shoppers with other priorities can turn to Amazon's October Prime Day, running Oct. 6 and 7. Beauty deals are the standouts this round, with 30 per cent off picks including the KP Bump Eraser Scrub (in both the 8oz unscented/scented pack and the 10oz coconut jar) and the Ultra Gentle Cream-to-Foam Pure Facial Cleanser in 6oz and 10oz sizes.

Music-wise, Lola Young is bringing her Everything Begins tour to Toronto next year. Dates are listed on her website, but tickets haven't gone on sale yet — so fans are advised to keep a close eye on Ticketmaster, because they're expected to move fast.

Theatre lovers get an even longer runway to plan. Oh, Mary!, the Tony Award-winning Broadway comedy, will make its Canadian premiere at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in fall 2027 as part of the 2027/28 Off-Mirvish season. Mirvish is nudging fans to join its email list for priority access to tickets before general sales open.

And if you're in town this month, don't miss Torontohenge — the twice-yearly moment when the setting sun lines up perfectly with the city's east-west streets. The final one of the year happens Oct. 25, 2026, at 6:18 p.m. Expect crowds and cameras along downtown corridors; show up early for the best sightlines.

Why it matters: this is a tidy snapshot of what a Toronto visit in the next year could look like — new shopping, sold-out-quick concerts and a splashy theatrical premiere worth booking flights around.
