British Airways has revealed the finished interior for its refurbished Airbus A380 fleet, and the headline figure is striking: 106 Club Suites, the largest business class cabin on any commercial aircraft flying today. For comparison, Emirates fits as many as 77 business seats on its A380s — and BA is devoting its entire upper deck to the concept.

The change is a big deal for anyone who has flown BA's old long-haul business product. The previous Club World used a dated yin-yang layout, with some seats lacking direct aisle access. The new setup puts the airline's Club Suite — with a closing door, direct aisle access and a fully flat bed — across the whole upper deck, split into four zones to keep the vast cabin feeling manageable. There's also a redesigned Club Kitchen for snacks between meals.

Downstairs, the premium trend continues. First shrinks from 14 to 12 suites, but each one gains serious personal space: an enclosed environment, flat bed, personal wardrobe, 4K entertainment screen and an ottoman so couples can dine facing each other. Premium economy (World Traveller Plus) gets the biggest boost, jumping from 55 to 84 seats in a 2-4-2 layout with extra privacy and bigger screens. Economy drops sharply, from 303 to 215 seats, though those passengers do get adjustable headrests, larger screens and USB-C.

Each aircraft will absorb more than 35,000 individual parts during the refurbishment, and BA is treating this as more than an onboard project. A new First Wing and First Lounge are under construction at Heathrow Terminal 5, First passengers get new dining and bedding, and specially trained First Service Specialists will roll out across the long-haul fleet.

Why does this matter for travellers? BA's 12 superjumbos date from 2013 and still carry a business class product from a previous era. Rather than retiring them, the airline is repositioning the A380 as a premium-heavy flagship. The practical catch: the planes are being refitted one at a time, so you can't assume your A380 flight has the new cabin. The first refurbished aircraft should enter service later this year, though routes haven't been announced — so check the specific aircraft assigned to your booking before you get excited. If you're booking business class on BA long-haul, a refitted A380 now offers more suites (and potentially better award availability) than almost any other plane in the sky.
