A hotel credit card that hands back more than it costs? The IHG One Rewards Business Card from Chase comes with a $200 annual fee, but a close look at the perks suggests frequent IHG guests can comfortably get that back — and then some.

The headline perk is an anniversary free night award worth up to 50,000 IHG points, issued every year and valid for 12 months. Crucially, IHG lets you top off the certificate with extra points, so a 55,000-point room can be booked with the award plus 5,000 points. On its own, this benefit can more than cover the annual fee at many properties.

There's more value stacked on top. Cardholders get up to $100 a year in IHG food and beverage rewards, delivered as $25 quarterly vouchers usable against room-charged meals and drinks (alcohol included) during a stay. A $100 airline statement credit kicks in after spending $250 on direct airline flight purchases — available through the end of 2027. United flyers also receive $50 in United TravelBank cash annually, split into two $25 deposits in January and July, though each deposit expires within a few months, so timing matters.

Status perks are baked in too: automatic IHG Platinum status for as long you hold the card, plus 15 elite night credits each year to help you climb toward top-tier Diamond status. From 2027, spending $50,000 on the card in a calendar year will unlock Diamond outright, which brings complimentary breakfast and better upgrades.

The welcome offer is the other big draw: 190,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in the first three months, worth roughly $950 based on a half-cent-per-point valuation. The offer runs through November 18, 2026, and isn't available to anyone who has held this specific card or earned its bonus in the past 24 months. The good news: eligibility is assessed separately from IHG's personal cards, so you can hold both and stack free night awards each year.

Where the card falls down is everyday spending. It earns 10x points at IHG hotels, 5x on dining, gas, direct airline flights, rental cars and select advertising, and 3x on everything else — which translates to roughly 1.5% back on regular purchases at typical point valuations. That's not competitive with the best general-purpose cards, so it's best treated as a perks-and-free-nights vehicle rather than a daily driver. There's a small sweetener of 20,000 bonus points for hitting $25,000 in annual spend.

Practical extras worth noting: no foreign transaction fees, and authorized users can be added at no cost. On spending, the card pitches "up to 26x points at IHG," but that figure bundles in the Platinum status bonus — you're only earning an incremental 10x from card spend itself.

The verdict for travellers: if you stay at IHG properties even a few nights a year, the combination of a free night, food and airline credits, and automatic status easily outpaces the $200 fee. Pair it with the personal Premier card to collect two free night certificates annually. If you rarely touch the IHG brand, look elsewhere.
