Air Canada Aeroplan is sweetening its points conversion from Marriott Bonvoy with a 15% transfer bonus. The offer runs from 1 to 31 October 2026, with no registration needed — just make an eligible transfer and the bonus points land on the Aeroplan side. One caveat: those bonus points can take eight to ten weeks after the promotion ends to appear, so anyone booking with them needs patience.
Here's how the maths works. Bonvoy points normally convert to Aeroplan at 3:1, plus a 5,000-point bonus for every 60,000 points transferred — so 60,000 Bonvoy points becomes 25,000 Aeroplan points. With the 15% bonus, you'd get an extra 3,750 points, bringing the total to 28,750.
Is it a good deal? It depends on your point valuations. If you value Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each and Aeroplan points at 1.4 cents, the bonus brings the exchange close to breakeven. That's respectable for a hotel-to-airline transfer, which usually loses value.
Worth keeping in mind, though: there are more efficient routes to Aeroplan. The program transfers 1:1 from Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One and Bilt Rewards, there's a Chase Aeroplan credit card with a solid welcome offer, and Aeroplan periodically sells points directly at decent rates. Bonvoy points, by contrast, are harder to earn in bulk and shine brightest when spent on luxury hotel stays — their highest-value use. Draining a Bonvoy balance for airline miles is therefore a move best saved for people who genuinely don't need hotel points.
For travellers, the real draw is Aeroplan itself. The program has one of the more generous award setups out there, including the ability to add a stopover on partner redemptions for a small number of extra points — handy for a multi-city trip on a single award. If you've got a dormant pile of Bonvoy points from past hotel stays and a specific Aeroplan redemption in mind, this month's bonus nudges the maths in your favour. If you're starting from scratch, stick to the credit card and 1:1 transfer routes.
