Wave season doesn't start until January, but cruise lines are already slashing fares and piling on onboard credit to fill cabins for 2026, 2027 and even 2028. Cruise critic and Independent expert Sara Macefield has rounded up the strongest offers currently live, and there's genuine variety here — from £599 bargain fares to heavily discounted Antarctica expeditions.
The headline numbers are eye-catching. HX Expeditions is marking its 130th anniversary with extra discounts on expedition sailings, and its Highlights of Antarctica trip has dropped from £10,999 to £7,443 per person for select departures between October and December 2026 — with meals, drinks, guided activities, tips, wifi and expedition gear all included. Virgin Voyages is running 70 per cent off the second passenger plus up to $400 onboard credit across more than 400 sailings bookable until October 2028, including a 14-night April 2028 transatlantic repositioning from Miami to Morocco and Spain from just £804 per person.
For luxury travellers, Explora Journeys has up to 30 per cent off if you book by 27 October, with a reduced 10 per cent deposit — an eight-night Miami to San Juan sailing on the brand-new Explora III on 6 December works out at £3,450 per person instead of £4,600. Oceania, fresh from launching the food-focused Allura, is offering up to 50 per cent off more than 100 sailings across 2026 and 2027, with a seven-day Barcelona to Rome voyage from £2,272. Book by 3 November 2026.
Family-friendly and mainstream lines are in on it too. Norwegian Cruise Line has fares from £599 across nearly 600 sailings, including the new Norwegian Luna, with its drinks, wifi and dining bundle available from £249 per person and reduced rates for kids sharing with parents. Celebrity Cruises is discounting cabins by up to 35 per cent, throwing in up to £200 off European flights and savings of up to £800 on sailings departing until April 2029. P&O Cruises is rewarding repeat guests with 10 per cent off plus up to £350 onboard credit on more than 800 sailings until March 2028 (book by 17 December 2026), while Princess is offering up to $500 onboard credit on 2027 sailings from Southampton — a seven-day Spain and France trip on Sky Princess departing 22 March 2027 starts at £1,222.
Rounding out the list: Ambassador Cruise Line is stacking up to £800 onboard credit for September sailings depending on cabin grade and trip length; Holland America's early booking bonus for 2027 Europe and Alaska sailings (book by 2 November) bundles drink packages, $300 shore excursion credit, specialty dining and up to $300 onboard spend per person; and Royal Caribbean, with new ship Legend of the Seas now at sea, runs short flash sales worth up to £565 off — worth signing up to their newsletter to catch.
If you've been waiting for a good moment to lock in a cabin, this is a decent one. The best-value play depends on your style: bargain hunters should look at NCL or Virgin, luxury fans at Explora or Oceania, and anyone dreaming of the White Continent at HX. Note that most of these offers have late-October or November deadlines, so check dates before dithering.
