Qantas has put more than 42,000 discounted seats on sale to the Northern Territory, with one-way Economy fares starting at $199. The three-day sale, run with Tourism and Events NT, closes at 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday 8 October 2026 — and travel can be booked all the way through to June 2027.

The sale covers 26 routes linking Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru with ten destinations around Australia. The cheapest fare is Adelaide to Alice Springs from $199, followed by $229 fares on routes such as Adelaide–Darwin, Cairns–Darwin, Cairns–Uluru and Sydney–Uluru. Brisbane and Sydney to Alice Springs start at $239; Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane to Darwin at $249; Hobart to Darwin from $279; and Canberra to Darwin from $289. All sale fares include checked baggage, food, drinks and inflight entertainment, though blackout dates and availability limits apply — worth checking before you commit.

The timing isn't random. The Northern Territory is having a moment internationally: Lonely Planet put the Red Centre's art scene in its Top 25 Best in Travel experiences for 2027, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park made National Geographic's Best of the World 2026 list, and the Top End landed at No. 14 on The New York Times' 52 Places to Go in 2026. On the ground, the luxury end is expanding too — a nine-suite ultra-luxury lodge on the dunes next to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park is slated to open in early 2028.

For travellers, this is a solid chance to lock in a Red Centre or Top End trip well ahead of time. Whether you want the waterfalls and wetlands around Darwin or the desert landscapes around Uluru, booking during the sale window could shave a meaningful amount off airfares, and the long travel window to June 2027 means you can plan around school holidays, the dry season, or event dates rather than being dictated to by fares.

Just move fast: it's a hard three-day deadline and the cheapest fares are likely to go first.
